Speaking Tubes Invitation

NRTF members, non-members, family, friends, all and sundry, are warmly invited to Speaking Tubes,  It's a sculptural installation by IOU, great art and dizzying technology unique to Goole and open for just three days.

IOU's latest commission for Junction Goole is an installation inspired by the extraordinary sound of vortex rings travelling through the atmosphere at supersonic speed. Junction's Auditorium will be filled with a gleaming steel sculpture, made of large air-ducting tubes and giant cones, that spills out a chorus of sound into special listening zones.

Contemporary music composer Yannis Kyriakides will be experimenting and manipulating the vortex sound during the installation to create a unique music soundscape. Visitors will be able to move around, explore the sculpture and enter the listening zones to make their own sound journey..

Specially created 3D pictures and animations showing the movement of sound will also be built into the sculpture. These remain invisible until viewed using smart-phones and tablets which will be available for visitors to use and discover this hidden layer.
