Dogwood came about, like many good ideas, through people working in the same place deciding that they wanted to do more together. In Dogwood’s case it was at the BBC, as the founders were all associated with Radio 4’s The Archers.
But it wasn’t about trying to emulate what that show does but in a theatre, it was about looking at similar issues in a contemporary, but wider context.
We want to make great theatre that can play where people are and about the things in their lives that matter. The company membership still has the “mature” input from its founders, whose work spreads across theatre, radio and TV, but has brilliant new energy from young performers.
No Finer Life will tour from March 2017, playing rural venues and arts centres. In addition, an outdoor version is being prepared for summer events.
