Scheme Profile

Villages in Action

Villages in Action offers high quality professional performances and participatory workshops to communities across a large part of Devon at a subsidised rate so that people can enjoy these activities in their local venues without the need to travel. This brings people together, including those who are less able to travel, to enjoy events that provide a valuable focus for their communities.

We work in partnership  with around 80 communities across rural Devon to promote over 100 live performances each year. These include as wide a range of artforms as possible.

Our "Menu" from which the village promoters select their events is launched every April and covers performances from September through to April the following year.

We also run participative projects with older people, partnership projects with with both local and regional organisationsas well as a young promoters project in partnership with local schools.
