When The World Stood Still by Elsa Jean McTaggart
A Celtic fusion of Hebridean melody celebrating life, sorrow, uncertainty, joy and laughter, When the World Stood Still tells the story of duo Elsa and Gary who were forced to return to their only permanent residence when Covid hit – a ‘barely glampable’ cottage on the Isle of Lewis.
Over the course of 3 months and amongst snippets of sunshine, nights outside sitting round the fire, and moments lounging in the wheelbarrow in between building works Elsa composed 21 songs, each sponsored by patrons from around the world. Through fiddle, banjo, bouzouki, mandolin, penny whistle and accordion, traditional music troubadour Elsa McTaggart, with Gary Lister as keyboard and accordion support, performs a selection of these numbers.
