About
Our mission is to make plays by and about women. To tell ordinary stories in extraordinary ways. To make you laugh and break your heart.
We make plays and we take them to audiences. Since 2015, Fishhouse has been writing, producing and performing work at venues regionally, at Nottingham Playhouse and Buxton Fringe, Brighton Fringe and as part of Live & Local Rural Touring.
Fishhouse was one of China Plate‘s First Bite companies in 2019 and was shortlisted for both Bite Size Festival & the Curve/Pleasance National Partnership in 2020 where we were down to the final 3.
Fishhouse is resident company at Upstairs at the Western Pub Theatre in Leicester where we are co-directors and co-programme the theatre’s seasons. We programme work which is at least 50% female led and develop new work at the theatre. We are a company in development with Live&Local’s DART Scheme for 2019/20.
Fishhouse is proud to have received Arts Council funding to produce ‘Ruby & Cedar‘ in 2019 and for ‘Powered By Fairydust‘ in 2020
