Stevie Thompson is an actor / facilitator / director, with a passion for creating theatre for and with children and family audiences. As a performer, I have worked with companies such as Travelling Light, Bristol Old Vic, Limbik, Rude Mechanical Theatre, Kazzum, Soap Soup and Tessa Bide, as well as numerous devising processes. As facilitator, I have worked across the country, creating both short term and longer projects for all ages and experience. I am a commedia dell' arte specialist and deliver introductions to commedia and mask to school and community groups. I currently regularly run theatre skills workshops for Theatre Alibi, Tobacco Factory and The Egg Theatre.
Recently, Stevie has been developing theatre shows as Flibbertigibbet, collaborating with artists across different disciplines.
Last year, Flibbertigibbet created Babble - a new theatrical experience for Early Years audiences, aged 3-5 years. Supporting children’s language development and communication skills, Babble puts the voice of the child centre stage A collaboration between sound artists and theatre makers, the show is a playful live experience. Through the creation of a brand new piece of music featuring their voices to take away, we offer the child creative ownership with a legacy. Babble values and celebrates the child’s voice in whatever language they speak.
Performing to small audiences of no more that 15 children, I am aiming to retour this sound adventure to schools, theatres and community centres in 2021.
"It was a really fun performance and so valuable to have an innovative piece of theatre presented to the children at the nursery."
