Profile:the future is unwritten

Number of shows

Formed in 2009, TFIU is a theatre company powered by punk values of honesty, inclusion and the spirit of DIY invention. We have specialised in making work on themes of popular culture, in conventional venues, for audiences that include many people who don’t normally attend conventional venues.

All ten productions have been publicly funded through ACE, Brighton Council and other public funders: most shows have toured nationally including Meeting Joe Strummer (Fringe First Winner) and Fever Pitch (“Wonderful” Time Out), while Brighton ’Til I Die, about the local football club, brought over 1,000 new attenders to Brighton Theatre Royal (“left me feeling excited about who theatre can be for and what it can do” ACE officer).

While often attracting people who don’t normally go to the theatre, our thinking about ‘new audiences’ has become more acute in recent years and we are in the process of refocusing and reimagining our mission.
