Emily is a multidisciplinary artist with a creative practice in Dance, Oracy and Illustration. She is a visionary and instigator, working with a socially engaged practice to tell stories of folklore and lived experience. Understanding first hand the barriers faced by neurodivergent people, Emily is an advocate of accessible arts practice for all, in the widest scope possible.
Kindred Folk is a live performance company led by Emily O'Shea. Kindred Folk creates dance and storytelling performances for non-traditional performance venues. Combining folk arts with contemporary styles, we create immersive experiences for our audiences, blurring the line between audience and performer. Our work stems from ideas of culture, identity and community.
All of our work starts from conversations within communities, gathering stories and testimonials to inform the production. We can often be found partnering with libraries and cultural organisations.
